the circle completes again
Wednesday, June 27th, 2007this week in my life
Saturday, June 16th, 2007We had a suspected leak in the wall between the shower and a hallway closet. Two weeks earlier the bathtub faucet was pouring out a steady stream of hot water which was both annoying and wasteful that the landlord had fixed and I thought it might be related to that. I had been putting away some towels in the linen closet when I noticed that it smelled damp and musty. I felt the ground and the carpet was damp and the backwall was mushy and pliable. So I phoned the landlord and told him about it. He came the next day while we were at work and smashed out the back wall of the closet starting at the bottom where the controls for the valves on the tub’s pipes were. He didn’t find any leakage so he smashed up higher in the wall and still found nothing. Nothing except water coming from the appartment upstairs. He spent the rest of that day fixing the leak up there. We got a 75cm x 75 cm & 75cm sized dehumidifier plugged in and stuck in the closet to draw out all the moisture before he could repair the closet wall. It was loud. It was hot. It was here the whole week. Friday night we came home to a fixed up and quieter closet.
Today I went to an optometrist, the first time in probably a dozen years. I think the last time I had my eyes checked was when I got my private pilot’s licence way back in the fog of history. I need glasses. I have to squint a bit to see far far away things because they are fuzzy. The prescription is “weak enough to be just annoying” to get. yay. This makes me officially old. Turning 30 this year and getting glasses.
Where’s my walker?
Get off my lawn.
driver license
Thursday, June 7th, 2007Yesterday I experienced the joy of the California Department of Motor Vehicles. I went to the DMV to relive my childhood past and take the written driving license test. I passed with no wrong answers since the rules are basically the same to BC. The only worries I had were the tricksy “how many days do you have to inform the DMV of foo” type questions because no one ever remembers those after they’ve actually gotten their license. So now I just need to get around to scheduling a driving test and renting a car to do it.
The final game last night was a good tense game and I’m happy for my Ducks-fan friends that they won. I’m also happy for my Kings-fan friends that the Ducks won (cheering for Detroit is bad for your health). :D
Oh yeah, we finally got an HD DVR last weekend and it’s all that I hoped for.
