Sunday, March 25th, 2007The guys at work tease me that I’m obviously “poor” since I don’t have a car. So I started browsing on craiglist for something in the 4-5k range. The cars that are triggering my interest seem to be mid to late 70’s Nissan 240 or 280Z’s or a Datsun 510. Does anyone have any suggestions for cars in this price range? I’m not really looking to get one right away but I think I should be thinking about it as a background process.
a week late but i write it
Saturday, March 24th, 2007On Monday night I took the GF to her first (and mine too i guess) SF show, Japan Nite at The Independent. It rocked. There were 5 bands playing all sorts of cool things. Asakusa Jinta, a hardcore marching band, ORESKABAND an all schoolgirl ska band, 50 Kaitenz a three piece band that channeled The Ramones, HY a sappy rock/ballady type of band and the awesome GO!GO!7188 punk/surf rock hotness. Some pics are here. I had talked a coworker into going to and he claimed it was one of the most fun shows he’s seen.
In other news, the GF has gotten herself a blog of her own.
Today I finally purchased (well ordered) a kitchen table, four chairs and a coat rack. The coat rack is because closets do not exist on the first floor of my MC Escher-esque appartment.
i have seen 300

back on the weights
Thursday, March 15th, 2007On our weekend tour of The City, my coworker Adam commented on how I have a nice set of a-cups going. :(
That was the final push needed for me to get back into a gym. I have been recently lowering food intake to stop the americanization of my body and now with the old school three day plan now in full effect I shall get back to the old hotness. I need to lose about 15lbs to really get down to awesome.
In work related news I was robbed of my 17″ LCD and forced to take a 24″ widescreen one instead. I had been dreading this day because I knew I’d have a hell of a time getting the onboard lameass video card to work under Linux and have it drive the huge display. A full day later I’m still non-functional and having to use my barely used windows box to run the display and then use VNC to connect to my actual useful workstation. Hopefully the new video card they’re going to order for me gets here soon. Windows + VNC sucks.

always behind…
Wednesday, March 14th, 2007On the weekend there was much “couple stuff” done. Saturday, the GF and I went to The City. We went to the KNITTING STORE!!!! YAY!!! called ImagiKnit because the GF needed some magical circular needles or something since she has just decided to learn how to knit. We also toured around Valencia street and hit up some of the ‘wacky’/interesting stores along the way, places like the store at 826 Valencia. Our guides on this adventure were Adam-n-Sophy. Sophy apparently knits alot and wanted to help the GF get started on some fingerless gloves. Adam is not a fan of the store so he and I continued on to their place in the Castro so we could play with his Wii. It was fun, but not enough that I’m convinced to buy one yet. Sunday there was dinner with Stella-n-Rob.
Monday, I decided to drag the GF on a quick jaunt to LA at the end of the month to hang out with my friends down there since she’s met them like twice and is usually sick or hiding when they’re around. Then that night, the GF fell down the stairs and twisted her ankle. She appears to be fine now, as well as she ever gets I suppose.
Continuing with the good things happening theme on Tuesday I found out that I owe ~ $1200 in taxes to the fed and state goverments. yay!
I was thinking of order a kitchen table and some chairs, but I may have to wait until all of my moving expenses get off my credit card and I’m done paying for services I’ll never get to use.
bleh.
meow meow meow
Friday, March 9th, 2007The GF finds this really funny and can’t stop laughing whenever she sees it.
gas stove 1, calmness 0
Wednesday, March 7th, 2007So I promised people an update on this here ol’ blog.
This is a crazy busy week at work so of course that means that the GF had to be finally visiting me. Boo to having to work lots and hour long commutes to and from work.
So on Monday the GF met my across-the-hall neighbours. Why you ask? It was due to a small matter of a fire alarm going off and my stove being in flames.
This was actually my fault though.
The new place has a gas stove. So as I’ve been unpacking I’ve been trying to put stuff into their “proper place”. Under the stove there is a compartment where the broiling pan went, so I also put a baking sheet and a muffin tray and… um.. the manuals for all my appliances since all these things were mixed together in one box. The paper manuals. Under the gas powered stove.
The GF decides to try and roast some potatoes for supper and warms up the oven. Minutes later, apparently, there was flame, smoke and a fire alarm going off. The story gets a bit confusing for me here and all I know is that I received two urgent phone calls from her as I was riding on BART back into Oakland, when I got home she smelled of smoke when she let me in the door, the fire alarm was half off the wall due to it be attacked to make it shut up and that she knew that the neighbour’s name was Steven.
We did not use the oven that night, potatoes were mashed instead of roasted.
As an ironic? epilogue not all the manuals were consumed in “the blaze”, the ones that survived were the instructions for two appliances I no longer have, a toaster oven and a microwave.
I miss my rice cooker’s manual.
